From j.e.russell at imperial.ac.uk Thu Aug 5 14:23:04 2004 From: j.e.russell at imperial.ac.uk (Jacqueline Russell) Date: Thu, 5 Aug 2004 15:23:04 +0100 (BST) Subject: [ROLSS] GERB status Message-ID: Dear all, This is to explain the current absence of NRT GERB data. At the beginning of this week the GERB instrument experienced a minor anomoly which resulted in the loss of Science data collection. This anomoly is being fully investigated before the instrument is restarted. We should know by the end of this week when we will be allowed to start running again. After some intial tests and adjustments we should be able to start collecting science data once more. We expect this to occur towards the end of next week or the start of following week. The current status is that we do not expect normal data collection to begin until the week beginning the 6th September, at the earliest. As far as we can tell at the moment, the anomalies observed are not permanent and are not expected to affect data quality in any significant way. We are proceeding slowly and carefully, however, as we are in eclipse season and do not wish to place the instrument in a situation where it may be at risk. If you have any questions, or would like any further information, please do not hesitate to ask.
